I don’t usually talk too much about my music likes or dislikes. Most of you that read this know what I listen to and all but from time to time you come across something you really enjoy that you believe everyone should take a gander and try it out for themselves. I kinda came across something like that in the past few months or so.

I’ve been listening to a songwriter named Mat Kearney for a little while here. I came across him through my XM radio on the Torch, the Christian Rock Station. I know some of you are thinking, great another christian rock band with all the praise and worship stuff in it. You say that isn’t for you and that is fine, but this guy is nothing like that. He is a Christian so that is all good and well but his songs are great. Try him out…seriously you may enjoy him. I can’t say I can match him with anyone else out there but maybe you all will be able to.

He just came out with a new cd today. I got a copy of it and I haven’t put it down yet.

Click here for Mat Kearney’s website.

Again, I don’t usually do this since some of you practically hate what I listen to but give this guy a try…an honest try. You may enjoy him like I do.

Real quick…before the day is over…Happy Easter everyone! Enjoy the day but remember why we celebrate it!

Yeah, I am honestly tired here. I haven’t put up anything on here in a while…the sports blog is updated a little more I will admit that. But, really other than the normal crap with school, there isn’t a whole lot going on.

Mainly right now I am squaring away a lot of stuff for this summer at this point. Financial aid, loans, what nots…that sort of thing really. Its a little stressful but at the same time it is exciting because I know what I will possibly be doing this summer down in Texas.

But in the mean time I have a lot of work to do. Two broadcasting projects, one manual to write for sport psych, a couple quizzes, and one econ test. Thankfully I only have that econ test on finals week and then I will be done. I will honestly be happy to get it all finished and get on to summer here. The time frame for everything is a little tight but it will make for an interesting time really.

I am also now the assissant sports director at U-92 now. I guess that is some news to pass along to everyone. So now I actually get paid to work there…which will come in handy down the road. Also, in the fall I will be one of the football producers, meaning I will sit in the press box for each home game and maybe a road game if possible. Do interviews, go to practices and press conferences…the whole nine yards. It should be a good team to cover this year, seeing how some are picking them to be in the top five or even top three to begin the year. Should be exciting. I know I am jazzed up for it this fall with Marshall coming into town. As much as I hate the fact that we play them I cannot wait for it.

I don’t even know if that title makes sense…it just fit when it popped into my head with the way the weather is around here. Its 70 one day and then that night it may snow and its 30. Absolutly weird if you ask me.

I finally made it to a move last weekend for the first time in months. I was trying to figure out when the last one was that I saw and I couldn’t, because it had been that long. I don’t remember going to one for the most part of this spring semester. But anyways, I got to see "Inside Man"…it was a great heist movie. You ask any guy out there, they would love to be apart of a heist. Heist movies, if done right are always great to watch in my opinion and this one was right up there. I think some may have said it was a bit long or something like that but it was to an extent a bit long but the story was unquie enough that the time issue didn’t bother me. Clive Owen is a great actor and add Denzel Washington and you should have a solid movie. It was worth the money to see. Check it out if you get the chance to.

Its looking more and more like Dallas will be a reality for me this summer. I spoke again with ABC Radio about the interview and all and was curious if they would want me to start right away and they will. Sounds like a pretty promising deal to me. I still need to get in touch with FC Dallas and try to boil up some competition between the two if I can. I’d still love to work for FCD but at least I know I have something for the summer. Something at this time last year I couldn’t say at all. It is a nice feeling.

Still lots of school left here even though it is getting down to the wire. Hopefully I can pull out some good grades this semester. Time will tell.

Well, yesterday I am sitting bored at work and I decide to go internship browsing since I hadn’t heard anything back from FC Dallas. I found that ESPN Radio in Dallas is one of the big ESPN radio affilates around the country. So I decide to venture in and see if they have internships there. Their web site was all little weird to figure out, they had job listings but no set things for internships. Just a sentence that read something like "there are internships avalible for college students who will need to receive credit"…or something around that.

No real contact person for that either so I just email the first email address that I find that is related to the job postings. I say that I am interested in an internship there for this summer and low and behold they emailed me back within a hour. What a shock there…and it doesn’t stop there. The lady on the email goes on to talk about the internships that they have there and gave me her number to call for more information and that she looked forward to hearing from me.

Sounds good right?

I called today to basically see what all I needed to send her, as far as resume and cover letters. She goes on to talk more about the program and what will be done and expected. She said that I could work just about any hours that I wanted too as long as I met some minimums for the summer (which can be reached anytime really…those are details that aren’t huge). After that she asked when I would be coming to Dallas and where I was staying…that sort of thing. I said I would probably come around the week of the 15th in May, because that is what I’ve put on about every application that I have filled out so far for the summer. It gives me a week and a half or so to go home to Beckley and then leave for where ever.

So, she asked if I would like to meet and I said sure and now I have an interview at which I will need to bring the papers that she will be emailing me soon and I may have an internship for the summer. I must say I never expected to set up an interview for an internship at this point here. I figured it would be a lot like last spring when May strolled around and I had no clue about what I was doing until I was there doing it. Sometimes it happens like that and I guess other times it doesn’t.

Its just nice to know that I can, maybe have something this summer!

the link to my sports blog is now up…take a look around and get to readin! haha just click the link above and get to it!

I am currently working on getting my blog from wvuhooligans over here. That site has kind of gone down hill recently since no one (including myself) writes on it much anymore. Most of the last postings are from a month ago or more. So I have decided to at least copy mine to here because that site may close down sooner or later and I want to continue a sports blog of some sort.

Be on the look for it at least.

I haven’t posted anything on here in a few days, mainly since I was busy all week studying and doing the ol’ school thing. The weekend is quickly passing as well right now but today has been very productive and it isn’t even 6 pm.

I went out early this morning to shoot some more footage for another story in my broadcasting class. It was a 5k run raising money for a local Habitat for Humanity. One my my friends from the radio station actually ended up winning the race. Which was pretty cool to see, and thankfully he is always someone to interview about stories.

I also was able to finally pick up a copy of the book "Game of Shadows". It is based on the history of steriods, Barry Bonds, and BALCO. Very interesting read so far…a couple chapters into it and I am glad I picked it up. I also bought the autobiography of Mike Greenberg, a ESPN sportscaster and radio host that I like to listen to. I haven’t read anything in his book yet but it looks like a fun thing to read after I finish the "Game of Shadows".

I am pretty much done unpacking things here I believe. I finally got all the tubs out of my room today and it feels nice to see all of the space that I have in here to work with. I just need to figure out how to hang up this weekly marker-board. I did have it on my desk but it would stay on it. Some reason there is no hooks on it so I need to figure out what to do with it.

Still no word from any internship here. I emailed my updated resume and cover letter to FC Dallas earlier this week. I figure if I don’t hear anything by the start of the MLS season (which is April 1st by the way) I will give them a call again and see what is up! At this point I would just like to know either way and not have to sit on my hands and wait until May about this. That is probably the most frustrating part of getting internships for the summer. Again, just keep your fingers crossed about it!

Break is over and now it is back to school. I’ve got a nice little week here to with one exam, a paper, and a package due in my classes. Should be an interesting week. Crazy to think that there are only six more weeks or so left in this semester. Its scary but fun to think that really. I will probably contact FC Dallas again this week about this summer…probably just give them an updated resume and all to remind them that I would like a job there. Sometimes simple reminders do the trick.

I also register for classes next week. Hard to believe it is already time for that. I think I am only going to take 12 hours again. Mainly because I know my broadcasting class will be a pain and I know I will be busy with soccer as well. I plan to be traveling more with radio next school year with soccer or basketball so I need a light load for each semester. Plus, I don’t exactly have a lot left to take, so that is nice.

I hope to figure out why my WVU photos aren’t working. So hopefully sometime this week I can sit down and look at it and figure it out. I also want to add a thing or two on here if I can. I just haven’t figured out what I want to add and where. Again, the amount of time that I have to do that will figure in to whether or not I get anything done with it around here.

Lastly, if you haven’t seen or heard…WVU is back in the sweet 16. They play at 9:40 on Thursday against Texas. A little pay back match if you ask me. We should have won that game earlier in the year so hopefully we will this time. I think its possible. Another trip to the Elite 8 is in the sights but sweet 16 isn’t shabby either.

Well, today we decided to mostly move everything we own into the new townhouse. I am pretty much done moving furnature and stuff like that here. Mostly small things are left like bathroom stuff and all.

Now to the unpacking of tubs of DVDs and such. I don’t have much to do  really but everyone else does. Plus we have to get a couple things fixed and all around here. Construction was a little shady really if you ask me on some things here. But it will all come together here real soon.

My bracket isn’t doing all that bad either so far. Some of my gambles worked and some failed like always!
