I love the Chicago Cubs but I know when something is true when I see it. This is sad but definitely true…and a bit funny too. I found this on ESPN’s Page 2. It’s a Facebook page for The Billy Goat. You Cubs fans know what I am talking about here.

Sometimes you just can’t make things up. I saw this link on CNN earlier and thought there was no way it was a real story but indeed it is. A new space race. Build an elevator into space.

Wow.

I watched the first 30 minutes or so of last night’s VP debate in St. Louis. For the most part it was all laughable and I have a feeling we will see a cheesy version on Saturday night on NBC’s SNL.

When the two candidates came out on the stage and you hear Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin say to Joe Biden “can I call you Joe?” you knew it was going to be an interesting debate.

Both danced around issues, and in the end I would say Biden probably came out on top looking like a better candidate for VP. Palin kept saying she wanted to “talk to the American people” but I felt she danced around more than Biden. Its pretty funny when the moderator said after the second question of the night that neither answered the question that was asked to them.

You can tell that all the GOP wanted Palin to do was back John McCain and tell his stuff. Biden spent most of the night attacking McCain.

But yeah, my vote went to Biden last night. The man is going to be money on stupid quotes though. Not George Bush money on stupid quotes but enough that will make you laugh and hate the guy at the same time.

Nine months are down, finished, over in 2008. Already three-forths the way through here this year. Man, it is true what they say, the older you get the faster time flies. Summer was here and then there (thankfully the heat went with it) and now we are moving into Fall…well most of the country is at least. Texas Fall starts in like late November and last a couple weeks.

So what’s going on here? The economy stinks as usual, which is causing my daily work to get interesting with clients and the company I work for. Money appears to be getting tight for everyone. It’s a shame really, because I never really know what to think about money and the economy. Some parts do well, while others suffer.

A circle of life I suppose.

I’m honestly not too terribly worried over it all though. I realized at the start of the year that it was going to be an interesting one.

Time will tell as always though.

Okay, so I thought I would blog some from ACL and that never happened. ACL was great though, I’m exhausted but it was totally worth going. I saw more bands that I probably would never get to see in a single weekend ever again.

Bands I enjoyed:

  • Foo Fighters – best way to end a weekend…
  • NERD – Probably would never go to one of their concerts but man they were fun live
  • Gnarls Barkley – Same as NERD…plus a Radiohead cover was awesome
  • Beck – Started late and ended early kinda put a damper on his solid show
  • Band of Horses – heard from a distance before Foo Fighters, what I heard sounded good
  • MGMT – Loved it all, they really could have been on a bigger stage
  • Vampire Weekend – Nice way to start the weekend for me..
  • John Fogerty – Amazed at the amount of solid music this guy has done over the years.
  • The Black Keys – A band that’s probably going to explode before long.

Others that were alright:

  • Old 97’s: Yeah not bad.
  • Blues Travelers: Same old sound.
  • Silversun Pickups: Had high hopes but they screamed too much.
  • Flyleaf: Too much yelling but not too horrible.
  • Patty Griffin: I was actually surprised that I liked her.
  • Manu Chau: Couldn’t understand him since he was Spanish but it sounded good.

I will try to put up any photos that I got from the weekend when I can.

I am coming to you all tonight from the road! Gotta love being able to blog anywhere these days, even without a computer! Yup, I’m on my phone blogging!

Anyways, Becca and I are on our way to Austin for ACL. I may try to blog more on my phone while I am there.

IMG_0534Yeah, I finally got off my lazy butt and posted more photos today. I haven’t added every photo that I have right now with me but a decent amount or start for now. I put up some photos from various FC Dallas games, some photos from a visit to the Fort Worth Zoo, some work photos, and some random photos from the year.

Enjoy! More on the way eventually!

I cannot even begin to say how excited I have been for this week. Monday saw the return of all of CBS’s great comedies and tonight NBC gets to take it’s turn on the series premiers. My Name Is Earl and The Office start back up tonight!

I am a bit more excited for The Office to begin it’s fifth season. After last year’s writer’s strike, which left most TV shows in limbo for a while, I wondered how well this show would respond. They came back in April after the strike and did not disappoint. I see that happening again tonight with their series premier.

Next week we get some more season debuts as ABC kicks off Wednesday with Private Practice and Pushing Daisies.

So nice to have solid TV back on again, the summer was rather dull because of it. If I can I will talk a bit more later on about The Office and why I love it so much.

Yeah, during the week I’m a Mac. And for the time being on the weekends (and in the mornings before work), I’m a PC.

I will probably get a Mac down the road once they release their new line up laptops.

Microsoft decided to release this ad to debunk the I’m A PC stereotype, if you want to call it a stereotype.

I still like the Mac commercials better though…

Hooray! One of my favorite widgets is now an app on my iPhone. Big Bucket Production’s TV Forcast is up and running. I must say it was a pleasant surprise this afternoon when I loaded it up on the phone’s web browser and saw that it was available on the App Store.

So far, I love it more than the widget and the web app combined! They did an excellent job.

Basically what TV Forcast does is you add your favorite shows and it tells you how many days until the next airing of the show. It even gives a beautiful little logo of your show and a description (if provided) of the next episode. Its handy for people like me who only like a certain number of shows and typically forget when they come on. Plus you can also send email reminders on this app as well to yourself or to a friend!
