Last night was a great night for me. After years of waiting, I was able to finally see Pearl Jam again. The Seattle band came through town last night for the first time in 10 years apparently. Needless to say the show was epic.

Becca even had a good time!

Heard this song during the final episode of Entourage earlier today. Reminded me of how great Led Zeppelin was.

Something hauntingly beautiful about a string quartet doing this song by The Pixies.

If that link doesn’t work…try this.

For the first time in I don’t know how long I spent the afternoon (yes at work) downloading some new tunes. Of the ones I got are: The Temper Trap, The XX, Phoenix, Cage The Elephant and Vampire Weekend.

I don’t know why but the song “Sweet Disposition” by The Temper Trap is addictive. Then again its also a theme song of some new ABC show that looks good.

I’m also trying to do a few more things around this site here too. I need to stop wasting time on not doing things with this site that I’ve owned for nearly a decade. Work and life I guess have kept me from really doing anything remotely interesting with this over the last couple years but hopefully I can settle down with this theme you see and enjoy this site once again.

Its a small hope, even if so few read this place.

Okay, so I thought I would blog some from ACL and that never happened. ACL was great though, I’m exhausted but it was totally worth going. I saw more bands that I probably would never get to see in a single weekend ever again.

Bands I enjoyed:

  • Foo Fighters – best way to end a weekend…
  • NERD – Probably would never go to one of their concerts but man they were fun live
  • Gnarls Barkley – Same as NERD…plus a Radiohead cover was awesome
  • Beck – Started late and ended early kinda put a damper on his solid show
  • Band of Horses – heard from a distance before Foo Fighters, what I heard sounded good
  • MGMT – Loved it all, they really could have been on a bigger stage
  • Vampire Weekend – Nice way to start the weekend for me..
  • John Fogerty – Amazed at the amount of solid music this guy has done over the years.
  • The Black Keys – A band that’s probably going to explode before long.

Others that were alright:

  • Old 97’s: Yeah not bad.
  • Blues Travelers: Same old sound.
  • Silversun Pickups: Had high hopes but they screamed too much.
  • Flyleaf: Too much yelling but not too horrible.
  • Patty Griffin: I was actually surprised that I liked her.
  • Manu Chau: Couldn’t understand him since he was Spanish but it sounded good.

I will try to put up any photos that I got from the weekend when I can.

I am coming to you all tonight from the road! Gotta love being able to blog anywhere these days, even without a computer! Yup, I’m on my phone blogging!

Anyways, Becca and I are on our way to Austin for ACL. I may try to blog more on my phone while I am there.

Yeah, its been a few days..or a couple weeks if you are keeping score at home since my last post. Just wanted to write a quick update on a few things:

  • Austin City Limits (ACL) is next weekend…I have my three-day pass and I am ready to go!
  • Get to see the Foo Fighters, Vampire Weekend, Beck, NERD, Gnarls Barkley, MGMT, and The Black Keys there to name a few.
  • WVHooligan.com is currently down (but not out). Had to redo some things and am currently trying to come up with a new design.
  • The Lakeview site is coming together quite nicely, more things are being added here and there.
  • Rigby (pictured above) is growing every day here, he’s a little over three months old now too! And he still bits everything and wants to chew on anything he can.
  • Today is my one year anniversary at Wieck Media. Yay, time for a raise!

Okay, that’s all for now.

Ah, more new music here. Just downloaded the new Kings of Leon CD called “Only By The Night”. I don’t know what it is about this band that I enjoy so much but this is another solid CD by them. Check it out…by any means possible!

I haven’t talked about music in a while but today I downloaded the new Verve CD called Forth. All I can say is man I am glad these guys are back together. They’ve broken up more times than I can remember but their latest work may be some of their best. From their lead track Love is Noise to Judas and Noise Epic.

Check it out, buy it, illegally download, whatever. Its good.

A new installment of what is playing on my iPod. Only a couple new things that I just have to mention. Hot off the download really and in perfect time for my Dallas trip tomorrow. So here's to it…

DreamsEvermore – highly addictive album. Mainly the hit song "It's Too Late" will make you want to listen to it over and over again. It may not be for everone but I love just about every song that I have played so far!

The Devil And God Are Raging Inside MeBrand New – yes that is the name of the band…and oddly enough this is their brand new cd. Cheesey but whatever…this new cd is must like some of their older stuff but an update really. I like most of the songs on this album but I will almost bet that this cd you either love it or hate it. Then again with Brand New, you either love them or hate them I think. Still its a good cd and I enjoy it!

CarnavasSilversun Pickup – Alright, I mainly put this band on here because of one song that I enjoy a lot…"Lazy Eye" …if you are like me and enjoy just random music and nothing special about it then this is a good song for you. What is funny you think its a girl singing until some random yelling that lets you in on the lead singer being a dude. Caught me off guard but I still enjoyed the song nonetheless. Its also very Secret Machine-ish which as you all may know, I enjoy. Solid pickup if you can.
