I’m calling a game today for the women’s basketball team. Click the U-92 link on the right…once you’re there click the listen live link to hear. The pre-game kicks off at 1:30 and will probably go till sometime around 4:30.

Check it out!

Now that I am figuring out my schedule for this semester I am begining to find the gaps for free time in my week. This happens to be one of them for now…though I am sure once my broadcasting class gets going it will surely change to where I don’t have free time. So I may as well enjoy it while I have it right? You betcha…

Once I would like to think Mikey for getting me hooked on 24. Seriously, its a great show to watch if you into trying to figure out what is going to happen and what not. So I do have some 24 to watch here on my downtime if I choose to do so.

Lately, I have been getting up earlier than normal and going and working out at the rec center here. I am working on my laziness I guess you could say, and I just kinda missed being in decent shape. So far its going pretty well…I am only working out for a hour or so each morning. Just some biking and some lifting. Nothing to shabby…it surely makes an interesting way to start the day. Plus the rec center isn’t nearly as busy at that time of the day as it is when I used to go at night. That was a big reason why I didn’t like going there for a while. I just couldn’t stand the crowds there, and I am sure its even worse right now at night there since everyone and their dog wants to be in shape for spring break in this town. Its kinda gay if you ask me that so many people do that, thankfully that is not my reason. I feel I wouldn’t be doing myself a favor if I was trying to do that for a week that I will just be moving.

Speaking of moving, I checked out my new townhouse with Mikey, Jennifer and her brother Andrew yesterday. Looks like a nice place…so only like 50 some days left until we move in there. Though my bed room has a door to the outside deck in it. A little differnet but I will manage it just fine I am sure.

Who can not like this weather? Honestly, 62 on a day in January? I love it, there is nothing better than a mild day in winter in my books. But watch it snow this weekend now that I say that.

Yeah, I know what your thinking…where have I been the last week or so. Well, the new semester started off here, so I had to get a couple days in under my belt to see how things would go. So far I like my classes…well okay three out of four isn’t bad. My ECON class is very boring though. The others seem good though, or at least they seem like they will be very interesting and worth going to.

And I am starting to work out again here, I have actually been getting myself up in the mornings before class and going and working out at the rec center here. Crazy, I know, but its worth it in the long run I know that.

So, a four day weekend ahead sounds great. No classes Monday is very nice.

Lots of birthdays this month in the family…dad’s was yesterday. Again, Happy Birthday to him…and Mikey’s is tomorrow. He’s getting old at 24 tomorrow. Mom is later this month too and if ol’ Chuck was alive he would be really old…for a dog.

You know I don’t think ol’ man winter knows what to do in Morgantown. It seems like he wants to dump loads of snow on us here but can’t. Why is that? I don’t have an answer for that here but I just find it weird that we get little snow and five or six miles north of us get loads more snow than we do. Crazy.

Today has been on and off on the snow, that is why I bring it up here. It’s gone from big flakes to little ones. Sticking to not sticking….its like a drunken mess out there if you ask me…nothing true to form and the way it should or could be. I don’t know, if you can’t tell I have had some free time today to see all of this. Not too much to the point where I am bored to death but enough that I have noticed things.

Okay, on a lighter note, I just downloaded a new CD on iTunes. Mat Kearney’s Bullet. I’ve heard this guy over and over on XM on the Torch but I can’t believe I hadn’t gotten this CD before because it is great. Pick it up, you may enjoy.

Alright, so one more weekend until the new semester. My schedule isn’t too much different than last semester really, as far as time of the classes go here. I do have class on Mondays this time around though, which could be different but I probably won’t even notice a thing on that.

  •    SEP 383  – Mondays and Wednesday from 11 till 12:15
  •    SEP 420  – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 till 3:45 (i think…haha I’d have to check again)
  •    ECON 201 – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 till 12:15
  •    BN 386 – Tuesdays from 7 till 9:50 pm….yeah late night class here folks

I was gonna take another class but I dropped it since I am sticking around for another semester next spring. No more graduating early due to various reasons like where I will be living, and putting together more on my resume tape for starters.

Okay…that’s all for now…also you all need to pick up the Wedding Crashers. Its great!

Happy 06 everyone…its nice to be back from my little trip to the Sugar Bowl.

I believe I caught up on my sleep that I missed while I was gone today by getting to sleep in and actually feel okay about that. Usually I don’t like sleeping in too long because I will feel my day has been wasted if I do but for once I slept in and felt okay by that.

First off, the Sugar Bowl was a trip that was well worth it. The highs and lows of the game were there but it was an amazing atmosphere and experience all in one. I wouldn’t have traded that for anything I believe. It truely was something I will never forget doing. I still can’t believe I went to the game really…the friends I was with during the trip and the game all felt the same…it was like a crazy dream!

But now its back to the real-ness of Morgantown for a few days before the new semester kicks up and gets going here. Hard to believe Monday is the new semester…and its hard to believe that I actually have class on Monday again this semester. It will be good though, I know that. It will be nice though to rest up here until then, right now people are sloooowwly getting back into town, which kinda sucks in a way because Morgantown is kinda nice without everyone here but it will be back to business this weekend I am sure.

I just wish my freakin’ refund check would make it here. You’d think 5 days or so before the semester it would come. I just hope they didn’t mess up and send it to my old address like they did last semester. They shouldn’t though, because they do have my current address on file so hopefully I won’t have to worry about that. We will see though…

Yeah, a little change in the looks. I thought since the holidays were pretty much over I would change the look here before I forget.

Anyways, just another boring day in Beckley. As much as I like not doing anything, I find it better to do nothing in Morgantown than here in Beckley. I’m not knocking Beckley but some reason it just feels nicer to do nothing in Morgantown rather than here.

So here are a few thoughts that I’ve had circling through my head today:

  •     The smurf turf at Boise State is ugly on TV. Espcially when its Boise and Boston College playing each other.
  •     I don’t understand the names of most of these bowl games anymore…MPC Computers Bowl….just wrong…it should still be the Humanitarian Bowl
  •     The latest White Stripes CD is very catchy…thanks to my iTunes gift cards that I got for Christmas I have been able to download a few CDs.
  •     I hate having a cold…I woke up yesterday with a sore throat…thankfully that’s kinda gone away but the sniffles and runny nose is still in tack.

Well, tomorrow I return to Morgantown…that is if the weather is nice to me and doesn’t dump any large amounts of snow here. That will give me a couple days to get things together before I head to Atlanta for the Sugar Bowl.

Christmas is fun…even when it rains on Christmas Day. Hard to believe Christmas has come and is mostly gone here…but it was a good one. I have enough iTunes cash to last me at least a month I would hope. haha…maybe longer than a month..

I have enough Seinfeld to watch to last me a couple months…oh yeah and a new iPod. Yeah, its cool…plays videos and all that good jazz.

Yeah, and each year I get a nutcracker to add to the collection. I have plenty of those too I must say. This year I got a soccer one for the first time. I loved it as you can see here.

SO again…Merry Christmas!

merry christmas everyone!

I have only been home and I have already noticed a few changes in town. I knew about most of them so its not a huge deal, but with my great memory I forgot about them as I drove through town on my way in today. For one, who changes a Dunkin Donuts to a Donut Connection? Who does that really?

I completely forgot about the KFC in my front yard (okay down the road really) was changing into some KFC..mix bag with Taco Bell or something like that…good money that it will be a KFC/Pizza Hut…and they will close the one down the road to put it in there…but I’d rather see it be a KFC/A&W mix. But that’s just me, I don’t know about anyone else here. Yeah, I forgot all about KFC being torn down right now…it was all a huge dirt pile…totally didn’t see that coming today.

Other changes, like Kohls…again something I knew about…but at least its looking good there in the ol’ Cranberry Creek Shopping Complex (or Center…I’m working on that creative stuff here I think)…plus the other goodies that are going there in front of the ol’ Wally-World. Movie theaters, Chick-fil-a (something that will make loads of cash in this town) and some other junk that I totally forgot about going there. I used to know back in the summer when I worked at WVNS, and that was only because I was lucky enough to talk to people about it.

Well…my grades are in and I will probably not mention them all that much in detail. 3 C’s and one A. Two of the C’s were close I knew but hey, I am cool with that…the other is stupid and not really just but whatever…it is what it is…I tried arguing my grade but the professor was a spacy kind of guy that was a poor teacher. I will leave it at that really…enough excuses really.

Last nights game went very well I thought too…those who listened…I thank you lots for being that bored to want to listen to me call a women’s basketball game. I know…I know…but really thank you it really means a lot. But yeah, the ladies won the game easily 100-60. Yeah triple digits in a womens game…something I  didn’t expect to see in my first game.

Christmas Party tonight…I wonder what the under/over is on the grand ol’ questions like "do you have a girlfriend these days?" or "when is your brother getting married?"…or "where is your brother?" and the classic "hows school been going for you?"…you know I wonder which will get asked the most. Probably the school one followed by something about my career as a broadcaster so far…soccer is big with those folks that will be there so I am sure they will be curious about me calling like 20 games this past season. Then in a distant third will be something about my dating life or my brothers where abouts.

Well, I am only a couple more days away from returning to Beckley for the first time since well like Labor Day or so. I never made it home once during the semester due to soccer and other things going on. I’d like to go sooner but there is still stuff to be done up here like plan for the Sugar Bowl and all. Not to mention one more women’s basketball game to do at the station. If you haven’t heard, I do a post game show for it and so far its getting pretty good. Last night’s was one of the best I believe.

Speaking of women’s basketball, tomorrow night I will be doing color commentary during the game. It will be my first basketball game on color. Most of you know I did color for the soccer games this past season. It shouldn’t be too hard of a transition to another quick sport like basketball for me. Its fun for the most part because you realize that you are basically just talking sports to one or two people. Yeah…

Ah, Christmas is only a few days away too, and I STILL have plenty to do as far as shopping. Kinda scary to think that really but hey it happens. That will be what I will do some of tomorrow while I am packing and doing laundry…go shopping.

Good news as well up here…I believe my brother and I have found a place for us and his girlfriend and her brother to live in next year. Okay…so we found two or three places but the one we really looked at yesterday was very nice. I am excited to move again, I just hope we can do it sooner rather than later.
