Turkey Day has come and passed and so has another milestone: the 5 year anniversary of epp6.com!

Crazy to think that I have owned this domain (website) for 5 years now. I have moved it around from time to time when service providers get lame or crappy but it has stuck through and lasted longer than I had really thought when I first bought it.

Five years ago on a Thanksgiving night I was bored and wanting something fun to do, so I did what I had always wanted to do and that was buy a website to call my own. Not have some site at the end of a long chain at geocities (remember the geocities.com/something/whatever/yournamehere pages?)…I also didn’t want a website full of pop-up ads and random junk that those providers put on their pages (ever noticed the lack of ads here?).

As time passed some things on this site have gone too. My updating and rambling had been hit or miss but this website has toughed through it. I still hope that it continues to do so through the next 5 years.

Thank you to those who read this and check up on it. Its another home for me to go to (so to speak) when I am bored. Again, thank you.

Hard to believe the holidays are already here. Its all good though, means lots of good things. I have already started my annual holiday movie watching. I went out and bought a few holiday classics and even got to go see Fred Claus today (very good I think for a holiday flick).

Turkey day is this week, which also means some shorten weeks for some. Not really for me, the nature of my job and of my field really in journalism means I don’t get holidays off all the time. I do get Thanksgiving off but unlike most people I don’t get the day after off or really even the day before. Its all good though since we shouldn’t be busy at all right now at work. An auto show just ended so we might even be slow until next year (weird to say that already) when the Detroit show hits.

Another cool thing about this week is this website. I won’t be unrolling any new design or anything special but this site will be celebrating its 5th birthday on Thanksgiving. Yup, just five short years ago I decided to open this site on a Thanksgiving night, things were a lot different back then but not a whole lot has really changed over the years.

That’s a bit of what is going on in my neck of the woods this week. Hopefully I will be able to look back at the last few years of this website this week too. Kinda weird to think that I have owned this site for that long already. Not a bad investment I will say. Something I definitely plan on keeping open for years to come if I can help it.

Just thought of another couple potential Christmas items that I wouldn’t mind having.

  • 30 Rock (season 1)
  • new WVU hoodie
  • a new WVU soccer shirt (if they have made any recently)
  • a new WVU football shirt

That is all for now…I know it is only a couple things but ideas are ideas. The more the better I guess for everyone to have options.

I know its a little more than a month away but I felt like posting some items that I know I am wanting for Christmas this year.

  • Nintendo Wii
    • Extra game remote
    • Play (group of games)
    • FIFA 08
  • External Hard Drive (either 750 GB or 1 TB)
  • (Maybe) Bluetooth for iPhone….either Jawbreak or Apple Bluetooth
  • The Office (Season 3)
  • Seinfeld (Season 9…I think it is 9, either way its the last season)
  • My Name Is Earl (Season 2)

This is my list for now…things will change, probably because I will get/download some of the shows I want on DVD.

The Wii will probably come from Becca, we both know what we are getting each other this year (she’s getting a iPod).

UPDATE: Do not worry about the latest season of Seinfeld, I had a very nice coupon to Barnes and Noble and I picked up that copy.

Currently I am in the airport at DFW, soon to board to Detroit and then back to West Virginia. I have been in Dallas visiting Becca and I will return soon with a nice little update about my trip to Dallas to see her and her family.

Merry Christmas everybody!!!

It should be very, very crazy this week around here. School will be rough with my final broadcasting story being due amoung other things.

There will be two games that I may be doing for the station for basketball this week though. That sort of adds to the week really when it all boils down to it. This Thursday at 7pm there will be a home game against Houston at 7 pm (6 CT). I do not know what I will be doing for that game as of yet but I am sure it will be something. And then on Saturday, there will be another home game. I assume the game time will be noon but it hasn’t been set yet.

Just keep checking back here for more updates on the games. Hopefully I can find time to get on here and let everyone know what games or not that I will be apart of.

On a lighter note, only 29 more shopping days until Christmas! haha

the title says it all…I would like to wish you and yours a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Seeing how today is the final for the MLS with the MLS Cup pitting New England and Houston. I thought I would throw my two cents out there and predict a Houston win. Both teams have come on strong as of late so it is a tough game to pick but New England hasn’t had the luck that they want in the MLS Cup in their history. Houston has won titles (they won as the San Jose Earthquakes) so it is not all new to them on how to win one of these things.

I have finally gotten most of my stuff back online, the photo pages are working again and I am slowly getting everything back to the way it was this time last week. I believe the web site is working better than ever now too as epp6.com is entering its four year on the world wide web.  Crazy to think that its been online that long now but it has!

My main email address is back up and running as well for those who do email me on a normal basis.

In other news….

The men’s soccer game is THIS Wednesday at 7 pm (6 CT) as the Mountaineers will face off against UNC-Greensboro. Not a big surprise to me that they got UNC-G instead of VT for that game. Its a game WVU should be able to win since they are the host seed. If you are in the Morgantown area be sure to check the game out. These guys deserve a rowdy crowd like they had for the Notre Dame game back in the season.

Looking at the men’s backet (I can do this more now that the women’s team stunk up the place against UVA this past week). Plenty of solid matchups, but I do see most of the seeds winning their games. Shouldn’t be too many  real upsets in the second round. The Big East had a tough time of things in the first round with 4 of the 5 teams losing their games. Only St. John’s was able to advance into the second round. UConn, Providence, Rutgers, and Cincinnati all dropped games in the first round.

The set up is still very favorable for the men’s team to make a good run in the tournament. I still think they have every chance to make it to St. Louis for the Final Four. If they beat UNC-G they will get the winner of the St. Louis/Northwestern. They should be able to beat either of those teams as that game will also be played in Morgantown.

Lastly…

There are only four more weeks of school for this semester, five if you want to throw in Thanksgiving break. Plenty of work ahead for me though, but thankfully there is a holiday break coming up next week. And yes, I have already broke out some Christmas movies in my spare time. Last night Becca and I watched Elf. I am sure once Thanksgiving passes we will watch more Christmas movies. I know XM likes to provide 5 or 6 Christmas music channels. So I am excited for that.

Busy week ahead as well, but I will try to provide as many updates as I can about games and what not.

Real quick…before the day is over…Happy Easter everyone! Enjoy the day but remember why we celebrate it!

Who can not like this weather? Honestly, 62 on a day in January? I love it, there is nothing better than a mild day in winter in my books. But watch it snow this weekend now that I say that.

Yeah, I know what your thinking…where have I been the last week or so. Well, the new semester started off here, so I had to get a couple days in under my belt to see how things would go. So far I like my classes…well okay three out of four isn’t bad. My ECON class is very boring though. The others seem good though, or at least they seem like they will be very interesting and worth going to.

And I am starting to work out again here, I have actually been getting myself up in the mornings before class and going and working out at the rec center here. Crazy, I know, but its worth it in the long run I know that.

So, a four day weekend ahead sounds great. No classes Monday is very nice.

Lots of birthdays this month in the family…dad’s was yesterday. Again, Happy Birthday to him…and Mikey’s is tomorrow. He’s getting old at 24 tomorrow. Mom is later this month too and if ol’ Chuck was alive he would be really old…for a dog.
