Last night I went out with a group of friends to see a movie and it ended up being United 93, the film about the plane that crashed into a field in PA on 9/11. I must say the timing of this film is interesting. Five years since the events happened may be too soon but I will say this film is worth seeing. It was tastefully done and there was nothing wrong about how it was shown on the big screen.

It was not Hollywood-ized, and it didn’t have any cheesy lines in it. It was intense and emotional, but definitely worth seeing in my opinion.

I just thought I would share that with you all. Some may find it a little political bashing but honestly I could not find any bad knocks on the government in this movie. Thankfully that side was left out. It was pretty much done by the books and how it happened on that day.

Give it an honest shot when you see it. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see it but I am glad I did.

I don’t usually talk too much about my music likes or dislikes. Most of you that read this know what I listen to and all but from time to time you come across something you really enjoy that you believe everyone should take a gander and try it out for themselves. I kinda came across something like that in the past few months or so.

I’ve been listening to a songwriter named Mat Kearney for a little while here. I came across him through my XM radio on the Torch, the Christian Rock Station. I know some of you are thinking, great another christian rock band with all the praise and worship stuff in it. You say that isn’t for you and that is fine, but this guy is nothing like that. He is a Christian so that is all good and well but his songs are great. Try him out…seriously you may enjoy him. I can’t say I can match him with anyone else out there but maybe you all will be able to.

He just came out with a new cd today. I got a copy of it and I haven’t put it down yet.

Click here for Mat Kearney’s website.

Again, I don’t usually do this since some of you practically hate what I listen to but give this guy a try…an honest try. You may enjoy him like I do.

Yeah, I should be able to start moving this weekend! Wow…and surely enough I have yet to begin packing anything up. And this week looks to be a crazy one before spring break! Yikes.

I can’t wait though…because waking up before the time I want to wake up at 8 in the morning around here really bugs me. Those who don’t know, down the hill from where I am now is a bunch of townhouses being built and the people who build them enjoy getting there at 7 in the morning to start. Now I am okay with the bang of a hammer but to play bad music so loud at that time of the morning is just a crime. The worst was seeing them this morning playing an air guitar to one of the songs instead of actually working.

One more week man…one more.

I saw this list of things earlier today and couldn’t help but to post it since I am a 90s kid for the most part. I hope you get a laugh out of it like I did if you are or have been around a 90s kid yourself.

Anybody under the age of 16 should not read this. Just cuz you were born in ’92 doesn’t mean you’re a 90’s kid. It’s not like you could remember the original Simpsons.

You know you’re a 90’s kid and getting old if…

You’ve ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House."

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You remember reading "Goosebumps."

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off."

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence… Not…

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green ranger, were meant to be together.

You remember "I’ve fallen and I can’t get up"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

You ever got injured on a Slip ‘n’ Slide.

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down.

" Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE"
he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stumbed he’s toe oe oe and thats the end end end of the elephants show ow ow

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players.

You remember Alf, the little brown alien from Melmac and Vicki the Robot from "MY Little Wonder."

You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool.

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell."

You played and or collected "Pogs."

You used to pretend to be a MIGHTY MORPHIN Power Ranger and you owned a Skip It.

You had at least one GigaPet or NanoBaby and brought it everywhere.

You watched the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

You remember a time before the WB.

You’ve gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You thought it would be so cool to be Alex Mack.

You know the Macarena by heart.

"Talk to the hand" … enough said

You thought Brain would finally take over the world.

Again, if you know what those things mean and got a laugh out of it then you know the 90s just like I do. Now I may not have been a 100% on all of those things listed but I was pretty darn close man. Those in a way were the good ol’ days.

Come to know that all along Mikey, Jennifer, Fatz and I have been looking at the wrong townhouse. lol Honest mistake. Its 109 not 105…either way it doesn’t matter since we might be able to start moving stuff in NEXT weekend!! Woohoo! We are all pumped for it and I haven’t even started to pack a thing. I guess it really won’t hit me until next week when I really will have to start.

Also…WVU released the schedules for next fall. Which is always nice…I love planning a new semester more than attending the one I am currently in. It always happens this way but honestly I know since I am only going to be taking 12 hours again next fall that it won’t really matter all that much what I take. I will again keep with the lack of Friday classes. I like that…its easy and its nice to know that Thursday starts your weekend. Looking at things and the classes I have left to take, I will probably make my Mondays…Monday. In other words I will have most of my classes on Monday. No big deal really. My one broadcasting class won’t be at night but I still may have a class that starts in the early evening on Monday. Oh well…I am not worried because there shouldn’t be any soccer games those nights, which is good so I won’t have to miss anything either way.

Tuesday and Thursday will be my work days which will be strange since Monday and Wednesday have always been my work day at the Foundation but its always nice to have a change of things. I will still work Fridays. No change there…I just know I wanted to make this semester as relaxed as possible with the broadcasting class and soccer on the menu.

Again its still nice to plan this early here…I think i register for classes again in a couple weeks!

As for this semester, I have my first package in my broadcasting class due next week. I am interviewing and shooting video tomorrow out at the Coliseum. I am going to do a piece on the new wrestling complex that they are building here at school. Hopefully it will turn out good.

Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday yesterday! It was a good day I must say! So thanks again everyone!

I’m calling a game today for the women’s basketball team. Click the U-92 link on the right…once you’re there click the listen live link to hear. The pre-game kicks off at 1:30 and will probably go till sometime around 4:30.

Check it out!

Now that I am figuring out my schedule for this semester I am begining to find the gaps for free time in my week. This happens to be one of them for now…though I am sure once my broadcasting class gets going it will surely change to where I don’t have free time. So I may as well enjoy it while I have it right? You betcha…

Once I would like to think Mikey for getting me hooked on 24. Seriously, its a great show to watch if you into trying to figure out what is going to happen and what not. So I do have some 24 to watch here on my downtime if I choose to do so.

Lately, I have been getting up earlier than normal and going and working out at the rec center here. I am working on my laziness I guess you could say, and I just kinda missed being in decent shape. So far its going pretty well…I am only working out for a hour or so each morning. Just some biking and some lifting. Nothing to shabby…it surely makes an interesting way to start the day. Plus the rec center isn’t nearly as busy at that time of the day as it is when I used to go at night. That was a big reason why I didn’t like going there for a while. I just couldn’t stand the crowds there, and I am sure its even worse right now at night there since everyone and their dog wants to be in shape for spring break in this town. Its kinda gay if you ask me that so many people do that, thankfully that is not my reason. I feel I wouldn’t be doing myself a favor if I was trying to do that for a week that I will just be moving.

Speaking of moving, I checked out my new townhouse with Mikey, Jennifer and her brother Andrew yesterday. Looks like a nice place…so only like 50 some days left until we move in there. Though my bed room has a door to the outside deck in it. A little differnet but I will manage it just fine I am sure.

You know I don’t think ol’ man winter knows what to do in Morgantown. It seems like he wants to dump loads of snow on us here but can’t. Why is that? I don’t have an answer for that here but I just find it weird that we get little snow and five or six miles north of us get loads more snow than we do. Crazy.

Today has been on and off on the snow, that is why I bring it up here. It’s gone from big flakes to little ones. Sticking to not sticking….its like a drunken mess out there if you ask me…nothing true to form and the way it should or could be. I don’t know, if you can’t tell I have had some free time today to see all of this. Not too much to the point where I am bored to death but enough that I have noticed things.

Okay, on a lighter note, I just downloaded a new CD on iTunes. Mat Kearney’s Bullet. I’ve heard this guy over and over on XM on the Torch but I can’t believe I hadn’t gotten this CD before because it is great. Pick it up, you may enjoy.

Alright, so one more weekend until the new semester. My schedule isn’t too much different than last semester really, as far as time of the classes go here. I do have class on Mondays this time around though, which could be different but I probably won’t even notice a thing on that.

  •    SEP 383  – Mondays and Wednesday from 11 till 12:15
  •    SEP 420  – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 till 3:45 (i think…haha I’d have to check again)
  •    ECON 201 – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 till 12:15
  •    BN 386 – Tuesdays from 7 till 9:50 pm….yeah late night class here folks

I was gonna take another class but I dropped it since I am sticking around for another semester next spring. No more graduating early due to various reasons like where I will be living, and putting together more on my resume tape for starters.

Okay…that’s all for now…also you all need to pick up the Wedding Crashers. Its great!

Yeah, a little change in the looks. I thought since the holidays were pretty much over I would change the look here before I forget.

Anyways, just another boring day in Beckley. As much as I like not doing anything, I find it better to do nothing in Morgantown than here in Beckley. I’m not knocking Beckley but some reason it just feels nicer to do nothing in Morgantown rather than here.

So here are a few thoughts that I’ve had circling through my head today:

  •     The smurf turf at Boise State is ugly on TV. Espcially when its Boise and Boston College playing each other.
  •     I don’t understand the names of most of these bowl games anymore…MPC Computers Bowl….just wrong…it should still be the Humanitarian Bowl
  •     The latest White Stripes CD is very catchy…thanks to my iTunes gift cards that I got for Christmas I have been able to download a few CDs.
  •     I hate having a cold…I woke up yesterday with a sore throat…thankfully that’s kinda gone away but the sniffles and runny nose is still in tack.

Well, tomorrow I return to Morgantown…that is if the weather is nice to me and doesn’t dump any large amounts of snow here. That will give me a couple days to get things together before I head to Atlanta for the Sugar Bowl.
